Two Of New Yorks Best Portuguese Gourmet Restaurants

Heart of Portugal Corp

I have to start with my favorite. One trip here and I’ll bet you’ll like it a lot too. You’re presented with two options when you enter, either the bar area or the main dining room. There’s the bar area which is very quaint in a really casual sort of way and always seems to be filled with a lot of the local Portugese citizens. By contrast the main dining room is all decked out with fully tuxedoed waiters and linen table cloths.

Of course you’ll want to choose based on your own tastes, or what kind of experience you’re looking for.

Take Control Of The Wine List

Imagine this—you are seated at an upscale restaurant with one of your best clients and then handed a wine list thicker than a college textbook. You want to pick out the “perfect” wine to impress your client but everything looks like it is written in a foreign language. After only a few minutes the server asks if you have made your selection, so you decide to order the most familiar thing on the menu. You are not sure your selection will coordinate with your meals, and it costs more than your boss will tolerate for a client dinner. By the time the bottle arrives, you have broken out in a cold sweat and are ready to take a big gulp! The good news is that understanding the three main ways wine lists are organized is the first step to preventing this from ever happening to you.

For The Love Of Chocolate

Who would have dreamed that using chocolate as a skin moisturizer could ever be popular? Chocolate used to be called “junk food”. As a matter of fact, we used to blame chocolate for a whole host of facial epidermal problems, the best known of course, being acne.

But how quickly things change! Chocolate treatments can be found in boutiques in almost every corner of the globe. Scientific reports now consider dark chocolate to be a health food because of it’s powerful anti-oxidant properties, and something called flavanols, which among other things are said to offer “extraordinary cardiovascular protection.”

How Beer Is Made

When you think of beer you might think that it has only been here for a couple of hundred years but is so not the case, beer has been drunk all over the world in one form or another, from lagers to bitters.

So How Is Beer Made?

To put it in simple terms beer is a fermented combination of water, barley, yeast and hops. The various beers on offer in the licensed establishments across the world are mainly determined by the yeast that was used during fermentation.
