A Little Bit More North - Botswana Safari

Chris and I were booked for a nine day Northern Botswana safari. As this was our first time going on holiday with his new 4×4, we thought we should take it easy so that he could get a feel for the car, but still have some of that 4×4 ruggedness.

First stay

The trip into Botswana went more smoothly than we expected. We didn’t have any problems at the border post, something you really don’t want to have any difficulties with when traveling across Africa. For our first two-night stay we booked into the Deception Valley Lodge.

Installing A Central Vacuum System

A lot of consumers like the idea of having a central vacuum system, but they do not like the idea of the cost of it. They also worry about how they are going to get one, because they are uncertain about installation and other issues. Fortunately, these kinds of concerns may not be as problematic as one would think, depending on the type and age of house a person has. It is certainly much easier to put a central vacuum system into a home that is being built than it is to install one in an already-created home. However, that does not mean that there is no way to put this type of system into a previously-constructed home. It may take a bit longer and cost a bit more, though, so a consumer should be prepared for that. If the system is going in a home that is being built, it is simply added into the walls when the wiring and plumbing are being added. This gives the installers plenty of space in which to work, and makes it much easier for them to do whatever they need to do to make sure that the central vacuum system is installed properly.

How To Enjoy Your Conservatory

Lots of people build a conservatory as a cost-effective way to add value and space to their homes. These are some ideas to get the most out of your conservatory and let it improve the quality of your life at home.

A conservatory is the perfect space for families with children. Sometimes adults need time away from the kids, and kids always need a lot of space to play, especially if the weather’s not good enough to play outside. Try turning your conservatory into either a kid’s room or an adult’s room.

Hinges - They Also Have Accessories

When you’re working on your next home improvement project, the hinges you choose to decorate your cabinets and doors don’t have to be the same, old, boring type that came with your house. Instead, look at what’s out there and find hinges that are functional and maybe even add a little fun and flair to your home.

By nature hinges are functional. Their job is to make sure we can get in and out of rooms and cabinets. Without them we would be back to large hunks of wood or stone that we have to put in front of a doorway to close it and then push out of the way when we need to get in. But some hinges do more than just allow doors to open and close. Some help you out while they’re at it.

Sculptures In Interior Decor

While paintings and pieces of art add to the character of a decor scheme, sculptures, whether in stone, wood, metal, or even clay, have a special place, at times becoming the focal point of a room. A large room can accommodate quite a few sculptures, most of them exotic, in various sizes as well as materials.

However, a small room would afford only small figurines placed attractively on a side table, on the mantelpiece, or tucked into a nook on the wall along with a large piece placed in a vantage corner that essentially acts as the focal point in the room.

How To Clean And Stain Redwood Decks

Redwood decks are beautiful and durable as long as they are properly cared for. A decade ago, we could buy Redwood for a song, but now it’s rather expensive so if you have Redwood decks, you might want to take good care of them.

The idea about any outside decking material is to protect it from the elements so the wood doesn’t sustain damage. If water gets beneath the surface of decking material, it can cause cracks. These cracks are a part of the natural breakdown process of wood, but it’s not a good thing. Cracks cause rot, and rot causes replacements and aching pocketbooks.

Polish Your Home

Real estate is like any industry, a product has to look appealing for people to want to buy it. Just like the bruised and scabby apples will be the last ones chosen in the produce isle, so the houses with glaring flaws sit on the market, unsold. Sure, there are those that scout-out the best deals and often buy up damaged homes on potentially valuable lots, however your average home buyer needs to want to live somewhere in order to consider buying it.
