Water, Whoa! Alert To Common Sense

Recently I read in the paper that a food coop is planning to ban bottled water in the coop. Wow, what a statement. I disagree with this ban for a number of reasons, and you should too, if you are really environmentally-minded. In the Brooklyn Paper, dated March 8, 2008, there was an article about the Park Slope Food Coop. They claim they are definitely banning bottled water in the coop.

Disagree With That Ban:

  1. Banning the bottles gives us less choices. We are all adults and we have a right to choice.

Earthquakes In Wellington

Wellington, capital of New Zealand and home for almost all of my years, is famous for being one of the most windy cities in the world, and also one of the most earthquake prone, situated on the very juncture between the restless Pacific and Australian tectonic plates. Unlike Aucklanders to the north, likely to be woken by a passing truck, or anything greater than a passing breeze, the average Wellingtonian fails to register anything less than the “Big One”, as they call it, a magnitude 7 or greater on the Richter scale upheaval expected every one hundred and fifty years, and in the Harbour Capital, now officially overdue.

After Divorce - From Couple To Un-couple

If you are over 25 years of age, and undergoing a separation or divorce, you may feel the negative impact from being an “un-couple” in a world which embraces “couples only”. Before you were separated or divorced, a big night out for you and your husband may have consisted of dinner and a movie, with your married friends. Welcome to the “un-couple” world, where you are the “odd man out”, and perhaps unbalanced without your former partner and just plain lonely.

Military Technology - The Future Technology Of War - Usa

More research and development is put into military technology and innovation then any other industry or field. The evolution of the battlefield has occurred right in front of us, yet many people are unaware of how advanced the weaponry of the United States army and its allies has become. The battlefields our troops currently fight on are occupied by drones known as MQ-9 reapers and Predators, as well as a variety of unmanned land vehicles such as the SWORDS weapon system. Also we can’t forget about the advances in Fighter technology with the F-22 Raptor being on the forefront of aviation innovation.

Market Correction Over Due - Look For 12,800 Bottom

In watching the current US Stock Market, it appears to be oversold and in a serious discussion at the Online Think Tank, we believe that the market is due for a rather large correction. For instance, currently it is very toppy and technical chart watchers and Industry analysts alike see a correction is inevitable. Things are being propped up now by massive amounts in the equity markets looking for buys on the cheap.

The Federal Disposal System - Everything Must Go

What does the government do with all the unwanted things they bought with our tax money? They auction it off at levels much below what they paid. Federal surplus, seized and forfeited assets make up the majority of items at these auctions. Just about everything and any thing is auctioned. The most extensive data base with government auction events is the General Services Administration. Also referred to as the GSA, they provide a factual resource without misleading the public into thinking government auctions are secret and for the few select. This is a government sponsored resource and does not cost the public money to be a part of. The General Service Administration has its own website with categorized auctions. Each auction has a brief description and picture of the item(s) being sold. The website is easy to navigate and is broken down into states.

Are You Crime Wise When It Comes To Atm Use?

These days almost everyone uses an ATM for their personal or business banking convenience. With the increase of ATM locations comes a rise of what’s being called ATM Crime. Because of this increase the Banking Administration Institute formed a task force of banking security professionals to study ATM crime and has recommended ways to reduce such incidents.

According to task force statistics, the most dangerous hours for ATM crime are from 7 p.m. until midnight, when approximately 49% of such crimes occurred. The most common crimes against ATM users were robbery after withdrawal of funds, forced withdrawal, and robbery of customers’ other personal property, such as jewelry and wallets.

Us Marines - A Strong History Of Bravery And Service

The United States Marines are a highly specialized branch of the U.S. Military, known for their rapid deployment and amphibious warfare abilities. The mission of the Marines is triple-pronged; to defend or seize naval bases and other land operations as needed, to develop equipment and tactics that will advance the capabilities of amphibious landing forces, and to perform other duties as directed by the President.

Created on November 10, 1775 as the Continental Marines, this small force originally consisted of infantry soldiers who served aboard naval vessels, defending the ship, engaging in combat during landing and boarding actions, and manning any raiding parties.
