If you followed the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, you may have noticed that the motto was ‘Passion Lives Here’. What better slogan to reflect the determination that was etched on the faces of those competitors? If you’re looking for inspiration, you’ll find it there.
The Zhangs, from China, were competing in the final of the free pairs skating championship. Early in the routine Zhang Dan crashed to the ice in a brutal fall that drew gasps from the crowd. She limped off the ice with her partner, doubled over in pain, their quest seemingly finished. However, 5 minutes later, after gathering her composure, she asked if they could continue and the referee said yes.
The Zhangs stepped back to the ice to perform what was a flawless routine. When they finished, the entire crowd cheered their passion and perseverance with a standing ovation. And in that golden moment, they earned awarded Silver.
Maybe you’ve fallen recently yourself and you’re struggling to get back up again. Maybe you’ve lost your confidence.
